A native of Dallas, Texas Erik Wilson has dedicated his life to empowering communities through leadership and service. The Dallas Morning News has endorsed him in 2007, 2015, and 2017 as the best candidate to lead District 8. His commitment to service involves being appointed to serve on the Dallas Housing Finance Corporation Board. In addition, Erik Wilson was appointed to serve on the Dallas City Plan Commission and Vice chair of the Zoning Ordinance Association and to the Community Development Commission. In June 2015, Erik Wilson was voted by the community to be the Dallas City Councilmember for District 8 and voted by his fellow councilmembers to be Deputy Mayor Pro Tem.
Erik and Senta have been married for 18 years and are proud parents of three sons Nigel 20, Josiah 17, and Malachi 11. His oldest son is a proud Dallas ISD graduate. His middle son attends Dallas ISD schools and the youngest attends school with his wife is a K-8 principal.
A firm supporter of opportunities through education, Erik Wilson is a graduate of the Business and Management Center High School in Dallas, Texas, and a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, where he received a B.A. in Finance. He also holds a M.B.A. in Strategic Leadership from Amberton University.
A dedicated professional, Erik Wilson was an educator with Duncanville Independent School District where he teaches Accounting and Entrepreneurship. His work ethic has made him one of the most respected professionals throughout District 8 and the City of Dallas.
Erik Wilson has held numerous positions in community and civic organizations: Past President of the Unity Estates Homeowners Association, member of Camp Wisdom South End Redevelopment, past 1st Vice President of the New Progressive Voters League, past Political Action Chairperson for the Dallas Branch NAACP, current SBDM member for Dallas ISD schools; Kennedy-Curry Middle School. Erik is a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church, and an active member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
